Solar viewing enthusiasts will greatly appreciate the Sol Ranger Solar Viewfinder from Coronado. This simple yet effective solution can be used to locate the sun quickly and safely with any dedicated solar telescope, or conventional OTA outfitted with the appropriate etalons, blocking filters, and ERFs.
A pinhole on the front of the Sol Ranger projects an image of the Sun onto an opaque piece of glass at the back of the viewfinder that indicates when the main OTA is directly aimed at it. The resulting image can be viewed easily from the rear of the telescope — ensuring a rapid and accurate alignment process without the risk of eye injury.
