Matthews Reflector 42x42" Overview

One of the oldest and still most popular means of lighting a set is by taking a reflective surface and redirecting sunlight or artificial light exactly where it is needed.

The "hard" side of the reflector will reflect the light almost exactly as it hits the board, while the "soft" side will soften the light as it redirects it.

The Standard reflector measures 42" x 42" (107x107cm). Made of honeycomb material sandwiched between two sheets of aircraft aluminum which is then set into an aluminum frame.

The frame is then mounted into a yoke which has a 1-1/8" pin to fit a Combo Stand and a braked pivot.

The Standard reflector is made with a shiny silver paper glued on the "hard" side and silver leaf squares on the "soft side".

Matthews Reflector 42x42" Reviews

Re-Direct the sun where you need it.

I have been using reflectors in my photography and film /video business for 30 years. From delicately bouncing a pool of light on table top sized products to whole buildings, people, cars, and firing light thru windows and doors. Nothing beats the raw power of the sun, or when there is no sun, the redirection of other lights. I ordered two of these, industry standard reflectors, to round out the smaller 2 ton video/film package of grip and electric gear I have been assembling. I always counted on them on film sets, and decided to take the plunge and get my own. The locking yoke is crucial, and the reflectors are well made. Make sure you buy the hand made box for these units...travel,storage and carrying them incorrectly can damage the surfaces. A must need on every set, and great for lighting at a distance.

The Matthews Standard Reflector - 42x42" is a well-made product but would require caution to not damage it.
