Key Features
  • Requires Tele Vue Eyepiece
Tele Vue's Eyepiece Adapter rings, available in sizes to fit cameras with 28mm, 37mm & 49mm filter specifications, allow great "afocal" ultratelephoto photography.  "Afocal" refers to the gathered light between the telescope eyepiece and the camera's lens.  You remove the eyecup and attach this digiscoping adapter to the eyepiece where the eyecup was, using the non-marring set screws.  Then just screw the eyepiece/digiscoping adapter on to your point and shoot camera like a filter, and finally attach all of it to your telescope's focuser.

For the least chance of vignetting (darkening of image corners) and the best image quality, the best Tele Vue eyepieces to use with your camera are the longer eye relief models.  This includes the 32mm & 40mm Plössls, 27mm & 35mm Panoptics, and 12mm, 17mm, & 22mm Type 4 Naglers.  The 31mm Type 5 Nagler also works well.  If applicable, experiment with your camera's zoom setting for the best results, trying to keep the lens as wide as possible without having vignetting.
