Tele Vue PTR-1250 Overview

Tele Vue's 1.25" Powermate T-Ring Adapter replaces the eyepiece holder of 1.25" 2.5x and 5x Televue Powermate Barlow lenses and allows users to attach a DSLR or CCD imaging camera, with a user-supplied and camera-specific T-ring, for astrophotography. It threads directly onto the chrome barrel in place of the eyepiece holder and is suited for photography with short focal length refractors.

Compatibility Determination
This T-Ring Adapter is compatible with newer Powermate models. If you have an older model, check and see if any of the lens elements stay with the black anodized barrel. Remove the anodized adapter from the chrome barrel or lower black anodized barrel. If the black anodized barrel does not contain a lens element, it accepts the Powermate T-Ring Adapter.

It's a bit pricey for an anodized piece of aluminum, but it allows me to use my Powermate 2.5x with my DSLR.

question

HI, I use a Televue 85 refractor which has a 600mm focal length. I read that this equipment is for short focal length telescopes. Do you think it is suitable for my TV 85? Thanks for your advice.

I use it with the powermate on refractors with focal lengths of about 400mm, 600mm and 980mm and find that it works just fine. I think Al Nagler probably designed it for scopes like the TV 85.
