Tele Vue manufactures auxiliary lenses which significantly improve the quality of photographs you'll get with your telescope when used with a T-mount and 35mm or digital SLR camera.

The TRF-2008 0.8X Reducer converts the focal length and aperture of Tele Vue's TV-85 to a 480mm f/5.6 and the Pronto to 380mm f/5.4-but can be used with most 350-600mm refractors which have a 2" focuser.  Enjoy flat field, fast photography with managable exposures!

The TRF-2008 inserts directly into the optical path of 2" focusers and has T-threads upon it so that you just add your camera's specific T-mount SLR adapter adapter.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality, Fast, and Sharp I bought this flattener and reducer for my 80mm F6 (480mm focal length) Explore Scientific APO triplet for use with my Nikon D800 and Starlight Express Trius-SX814 CCD cameras. Using the TRF-2008 increased my f stop to 4.8 with a reduced focal length of 384mm. Field is sharp with no coma aberrations at the edges. You will get some vignetting and coma distortion at the extreme edges on a full frame DSLR. However, for me its not an issue since I do crop my images.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Flat field Astro Photography The Tele Vue TRF-2008 Focal Reducer/Flattener was purchased from B & H (which had the best price) to be used with the Williams Optics GT-81 APO refractor telescope with a triplet objective. The GT-81 has a focal length of 478 mm at f/5.9, and with the TRF-2008 it becomes a 382mm at f/4.7 telescope. The GT-81 has similar focal length as the Tele Vue-76 (480mm) Telescope, which is also an excellent Telescope. The TRF-2008 was mounted directly (no extension tubes) to the GT-81Telescope, and connected via a T-adapter to the Canon 20DA CCD-APS size Astro- Photography Camera. A 48 mm Sodium and Mercury blocking filter was threaded in front of the TRF-2008 to minimize the effect of the lights from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles area. The following three objects were imaged from my backyard in Simi Valley, CA, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the Orion Nebula (M42) and the Seagull Nebula (IC 2177). In all the Images, the stars were very sharp and round without any false colors in the complete frame of the APS sensor. The M31 and M42 is bright object, but the IC 2177 needs to be re-taken from a dark site. The Seagull Nebula (IC 2177) was originally photographed in July 1999 from a dark site in the mountains and desert of Southern California with the TRF-2008 on a Tele Vue-85 Telescope using Kodak Pro 400 PPF in negative film camera. I would like to highly recommend and give a 5 Star rating to the 3-element Tele-Vue TRF-2008 Focal Reducer/Flattener for anyone doing Astrophotography imaging with Telescope of focal length between 400-600mm.
