Installing the mirror allows you to comfortably view through the Starbeam finder when your refractor or Cassegrain OTA is pointed up towards the zenith by diverting the view 90° — therefore eliminating the need to awkwardly squat down. The mirror mounts onto existing tapped holes, and easily folds down out of the way when looking straight through the finder is more convenient. It can also be used as a replacement part for new models.
