The Matthews Baby Grid Clamp is made to clamp securely on overhead grids, car rigs, or camera car rails for the mounting of light fixtures.
The clamp can be inverted with the pin mounting onto a grip head for spanning pipe between two stands. It will grip pipes with a minimum diameter of 1 1/4" and a maximum diameter of 1 1/2".

we mainly use these for longer and heavier seamless backdrops. especially for 12' paper. just run some pipe/speed rail through and connect two of these at each end on some combos and boom, backdrop! also love those smooth matthews handles.
