Utilizes a heavy duty tilt locking device and can be mounted on a stand with either a Junior Receiver or a Baby Pin.
An optional drop-down pin is suggested, to keep the lighting fixture or softbox at full horizontal, regardless of the boom angle.

It's what I expected from Matthews. This boom is sturdy and locks in place. I attached a Nanlite 720B combined with a 72" softbox with diffusion and grid and had no issues.

Besides this, I also have Manfrotto and Impact baby booms. The Matthews bends the easiest, and is far more expensive. These days you really have to have on set experience with all the new player's grip gear. Some are not worth anything and some offer great value. I will not buy another one of these- there are better options for much less money.

Can you provide the part information for the knob that fastens the boom to a light stand?
Asked by: Odell
There are two methods of securing the Baby Boom to a stand. You can either insert the Junior Pin into a Junior Receiver, or you can mount onto a Baby Pin in which case you would fasten it using a T-Handle with a 5/16"-18 threading that is .88" in length. The Matthews part number for this T-Handle is 63302.

Do you think it would be possible to safely mount an Arri 650 to this guy? based off of the weight restrictions, and counterbalance formula it looked like id be able to safely get about 4 ft of extension. Which doesn't really get me much more then just a regular C stand arm. Would appreciate any thoughts, or recommendations.

Can I remove the part that swivels and attaches to the light stand?
I am just looking for a heavy duty extending pole
Asked by: Michael
You can certainly remove that casting but we also manufacture the Steady Rest PN:B386032 which is a 2 section riser with a range of 28” to 70” with the ability to support a 90lbs load. It is also around half the price of the boom.

question
Hi B&H, is there a hook on the end to hang a counterweight? HNY!
Asked by: John
It does not come with a hook, but I believe there is a tapped hole in the end and you can purchase one as an accessory.
