Great piece of equipment for a rig I'm customizing. Top quality.
I bought two of these for attaching my cinevate slider to studio c-stands for more stability than using the center mount. I drilled 2 new holes 2.5 apart and bought some 1/4-20 bolts and they fit perfectly. The receiver is deep, but fit my 5/8 baby stud perfectly. These are heavy, solid and worked perfectly for my particular usage.
Couldn't use with my manfrotto magic arm
I was hoping to use this with my Manfrotto Magic arm, but the turnkey bolt is too far from the opening to properly grip the stud on the magic arm. The bolt is also too far to grip the top of my standard lighting kit stands. It is very well made, though. I'm sure that for different lighting gear with longer 5/8 studs, it would work excellently.
This thing is solid and well-designed as to be expected. Matthews makes great stuff. Great for mounting a light or flag to a wall, to a board on the floor. I've used one to make a quick posing table for a portrait. I've also used one to attach a fill board to a grip arm. I've also used similar to mount a softbox speeding to a boom arm.
same great quality you always see from M
Thousands of uses, this mounting plate is extremely sturdy, easy to install, locks securely when a baby pin is inserted. Really simple but serves so many purposes, you may as well keep a couple on hand at all times.
