The PEQ 55 from Rane is a dual-channel, five-band fully parametric equalizer with adjustable high-cut and low-cut filters and three bands of "Accelerated Slope" tone controls per channel. Front panel controls select between dual mono five-band, stereo linked five-band or stereo linked ten-band operating modes.
Ease of use utilizing analog control combined with high performance digital technology make the PEQ 55 ideal for professional sound reinforcement, fixed installation, broadcast and recording applications. Many fixed install applications are well served by computer based dead-front DSP solutions. However, applications requiring a performer or sound engineer to make creative adjustments in real-time are best served by an analog-controlled digital product.
Gain for each equalizer band is adjustable from -24dB to +12dB and all frequency bands are fully overlapping and adjustable from 12.5Hz to 20kHz with a x0.1, x1 or x10 frequency multiplier. Bandwidth is continuously adjustable from 1/12 to 2 octaves. Filter bands one and five of each channel include a switchable low and high shelving response, respectively. Low and high cut filters are also included with 12dB/ octave slopes and adjustable corner frequencies, along with low, mid and high frequencies tone controls.
The unit provides an automatic relay bypass feature when power is not available and active bypass switches for each channel when the unit is operating. Active bypass mode is switchable to bypass all controls, including input and output levels, or just the filter section.
