    Galaxy Audio CM-130 reviews

CM-130 CHECK MATE - SPL Meter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best for the price! I've used this as well the only other spl meters in this price range can't name other retailers ;), and this one gives more accurate readings across the board. Things I liked: -Easy to Read -Pretty accurate for the price -Sturdy! I'm a bit clumsy, and it still reads correctly, Despite a few drops so far! -Battery life (about 50hrs): Unless I'm gonna use it 24/7, I doubt I'll run it down. Things I disliked: -Not huge, but less compact than similar offerings -Less stylish (ie. more L33T) -Sometimes the popscreen pops off In the end, I'd buy this one again, and recommend it to anyone that needs an accurate and inexpensive option for sound check!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Old school tool I use this meter to calibrate audio monitors, set audio output levels, and measure the level of ambient background noise that can interfere with audio recording. This is an old school meter with good accuracy and suitable options. Sound levels can be either dB(A) weighting for ambient noise or dB(C) weighting for measuring the lows and highs of an audio signal. Signal averaging can be fast for quick peaks or slow for more consistent sounds. The cost is fair but not a steal. If you already have an $800 i-phone, you can get an app with less accuracy for the cost of $15. There are apps with less options for Android phones but the microphone in these phones is not of high enough quality to do the app justice. Choose wisely!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noise Code Enforcement I used it to enforce a Noise Code that requires this exact level of instrument. It's perfect! With 3 sound level tiers and a MAX setting, I just turn it on, set the level range, push MAX and come back in an hour.Anything over 70dB gets a warning, then a ticket on second violation. For $ it's a perfect little device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good unit for the price I wish the range went lower than 40dB, to check for ambient noise. But, this device is easy to use, handheld, with decent quality. It has a plastic body, so don't drop it, I presume. It's perfect for use at a fixed location. It's a bit larger than I thought it would be, but fits comfortably in my hand nonetheless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from How Loud Is Loud? Reasonably priced. Very easy to set up & use. I'm not quite sure why there needs to be different ranges of levels, because if the spl exceeds the range you have selected then it just shows as OL. I bought it because I wanted to become more aware of the spl I am exposed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Handheld meter This is a great meter. We are using it in a church setting and it is a nice way to make sure the sound booth, in the back, is hearing the same thing people in the seats are hearing. Well worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little thing Won this as a gift from B&H and after using it I appreciate it very much. I use it to measure volume on the studio and also when I stack the PA. Great product

Rated 2 out of 5 by from for a simple, quick meter it is okay. no bells and whistles was disappointed that there was not any storage capability to transfer data to a computer for a more detailed analysis.you get what you pay for.
