Microphone Madness BSM-8 overview

  • 1Description

The Microphone Madness BSM-8 is a binaural in-ear stereo microphone. The microphone is designed and worn like headphones to achieve the most accurate stereo placement possible. The 1/8" connection is completely compatible with microphone inputs found on MiniDiscs, Dat recorders and analog portable recorders that supply a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10VDC (also known as plug in power). The microphone provides a signal response that features smooth mid-range, and clean high frequency response for maximum detail.

Stereo In-Ear Design
The binaural design of the microphones allow both capsules to mount in-ear to recreate the stereo perspective achieved by human hearing.
Single 1/8" (3.5mm) Output
Both elements feature shielded cables and terminate to a single stereo 1/8" output connector. The connector is compatible with microphone inputs that supply a bias voltage of 1.5 to 10VDC (also known as plug in power).

    Microphone Madness BSM-8 reviews

BSM-8 Stereo Binaural In-Ear Microphone is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for bootleggin..i mean Recording Well they really do look like convincing head phones, and the mics are decent enough for what you pay. Im sure you could probably create comparable results yourself using some of the DIY guides online, but i really just wanted something to take out of a box and record with. One of the best parts is that i do a lot of recording of ambiences for video, and it kind of unnerves people to see microphones, even if i'm not recording them. Being able to get some beach and forest sounds without having look like im spying on someone is great. One issue, is that theres no way to monitor your recordings because the mics are placed where you would put your headphones.... i guess kind of a duh, but checking your recordings needs to be figured out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks dissapointing, but functions well I waited a long time for these while they were on back-order. When I finally got them, the newer version does not look like the picture. The design doesn't have the over the ear piece anymore, and they look more like ear-buds. The parts look fairly high quality, but the construction looks anything but professional. However, I have tested them out and they do work well, including the binaural effect when listening in headphones. If I had to pick form or function, I would pick function, so I'm happy with these, just be prepared for the looks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful binaural mics Excellent mics for my Tascam D-60D. These mics require plugin power from your recorder, so bear that in mind. They give the impression of being hand-made, as one cord seemed nearly 2 inches longer than the other. Good sound, medium sensitivity... Birds and waterfalls come through just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Broadcast Quality If you want to record someone out in the open without them knowing you are recording them--this is the product for you. You can put them in your ears, or drape them across your shoulders. You can even hold the recording device in your hands, or have it obvious in your shirt pocket. The person standing across from you thinks that you have taken a break from listening to music. The BEST!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing detail in binaural recordings These microphones are just amazing at the tiny little sounds and details they are able to pick up in my recordings. I was very impressed with the recording quality I was able to produce with these. I do wish they had multiple sizes of earplugs. These tend to fall out of my ear from time to time. I would have given a 5-star rating except for that one detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pristine Solution for Ambient Recording Very high quality microphones that are durable and fit securely. They produce sound recordingd that are far better than those from the built in microphones on digital audio recorders.
