This $+ stand was rendered useless after one month. The $ clip fixed to the end of the arm broke in short order. Very disappointed. The cheapest quality I have found in many years!
The way they fix the reflector is with the clips. They are able to hold my 5-way reflector over the zipper part. It does not feel super steady, but it does its job. I like the simplicity of the clips and it feels easier to use then other products I have used. The stand can be used by itself as a regular light stand. I use this with my flash and it's pretty handy.
I bought this for a 32 reflector. Set up and storage are very easy.
This is an excellent product to hold my reflectors Very sturdy, and hugs the reflector with ease. Would recommend.
I'm a semi-pro photographer, fresh out of college and starting to buy my own gear. This stand and arm are decent for the price. I have a 40 reflector and the stand does hold it at multiple angles--it does hold but I wish it were sturdier. The clips on the boom arm that attach to the reflector are my biggest concern, they are not very strong and do not attach very firmly to the disk. But I think that I could replace them with different clips from the hardware store. Note: the mounting arm and stand do not come attached, and there are no instructions. To attach the arm to the stand, you have to pull the black plug off the top of the stand, then you can screw the arm onto the stand.
Use ti hold reflectors. Works great outside as long as there is no wind. Gat some sandbags for outdoor use, the wind will carry it far far away.
I was very disappointed with this product. The reflector stand is lightweight which is nice for on-location use but the reflector mounting arm is cheap and flimsy the clips that hold the collapsible reflector does not fit properly and can easily full off while you're working. I'll have to go to Home Depot and by larger clips. If you want to look stupid in front of a client buy this product.
The stand was easy to set up and for the price it is a great pick up for your photo kit. I do recommend in account of buying this item that you check into some sand bags for support. Sometimes when loaded with a large reflector or diffuser the stand will fall.
