This is outstanding to pass the signal from a single mic level source to up to three destinations. �For example, a long running (entire event) audio recorder and two camera audio inputs (even if on and off) fed from a single lav or boom mike is a great use for this device. �This is great for multicam interviews. � Makes for easy synching in post to the long audio track even if either video camera is not continuous---and offers the added benefit of up to two (good, if not identical quality) backup sources of audio. � This works best in a total xlr world. �Plus you get the added benefit of being able to lift the ground if you need to do that to reduce hum. �The center channel has the ability to pass phantom power back through toward the mic (if needed.)

Purchased several of these to split (and grab) signals from mics into my mixer for streaming purposes. The devices worked as advertised. They feel well built.

Can this item also be used with line-level ...
Can this item also be used with line-level signals? (I am aware there is a line-level model, but hoping for double-duty device.)
The Whirlwind SP1X3 - 1x3 Mic Splitter is intended for mic level signal only. If you do need to use it for splitting line level signal, you can use a line-to-mic level attenuator such as the Hosa Technology ATT-448 In-Line Switchable Input Attenuator XLR Barrel (B&H # HOATT448) to connect line level signal to the input on the SP1X3.
