Sony NP-F970 overview

  • 1Description

Small and lightweight, Sony's NP-F970 Info-Lithium Battery Pack (6300mAh) provides the advantages of lithium-ion, meaning it can be charged or discharged at anytime without developing memory effect. This means the battery never loses its ability to hold a full charge. The NP-F970 displays remaining battery time on the LCD as well as in the viewfinder by continuously communicating with the camcorder. The battery lasts for up to 12 hours on a single full charge. Sony's Info-Lithium battery packs have a built-in micro processor that accurately calculates remaining battery life in minutes.

    Sony NP-F970 reviews

    NP-F970 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (6300mAh) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 379.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only genuine Sony batteries for me Spend the extra $ and buy this factory sealed genuine Sony NP-F970 L-Series battery from B&H. Too many fake chinese knock-offs on @ and falsely advertised originals by a host dishonest online vendors. B&H is the real deal. You get what you pay for with this Sony battery. Power up for hours without the need for multiple battery change outs at unopertune times. You won't be disappointed in the performance of this battery or with the consistent top notch customer service and lightning fast shipping that B&H alway delivers time and time again. Quit thinking about it. Do it! You can thank me later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the way batteries are suppose to be made I use this battery for my Atomos Assassin. It is rock solid and it is built with 'heavy duty' in mind. Sony is the only manufacturer that knows how to build these batteries and build them right. I had purchased a whole bunch of off brand batteries for my Atomos Assassin and I had to return one of them because it was leaking while I was out filming a job. Pink fluid oozing out of the bottom of it. Not cool. I hesitated in purchasing these off brand batteries but they were considerably cheaper. Well, like we all hear you get what you pay for. B&H took my other battery back and I replaced it with this Sony NP-F970. I will be replacing the rest of them now with this Sony NP-F970 battery. I've been in the video production business for over 35 years and have always used Sony batteries with my equipment. I thought that maybe thru the years these 'off brands' were possibly built better. If you are wanting reliability in a battery you should----no, you must, purchase Sony batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real thing I reviewed this item because I bought this same item from another large national Internet distributor and received a fake battery. It was a working battery but had no InfoLithium microprocessor in it. On reading many customer reviews on that site, I realized that it had been reported as a fake many months prior. The B&H Sony battery is the real deal and of course costs more than the fakes. You can tell if the InfoLithium battery is a fake when you charge it in a Sony charger with display and the display shows no charge timing. Or when you plug the battery into a Sony camera and no battery time remaining is displayed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I look to these batteries as reliable and long lasting - I have had good luck with them in the past. They are workhorses. I (just got this one and) use it on a Sony NX-3, but have used them before on similar cameras. The main reason I do not give them full stars is that Sony and other brands have occasionally put small light up indicators on the battery cases that let you know the approximate charge at the push of a button - without attaching the battery and powering on the camera. I prefer those ones - the indicator has saved me from running off with a low battery on a few cases - especially when more than one person is using the gear or handing off gear to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Was Looking For! I needed replacement batter for my Sony HD 1000 camcorder, especially one that could hold a long charge as I am a tennis coach and I need to film for hours at a time. This battery was perfect for my is great for many older Sony products!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Problems with The NP-F970 Batteries work well in most applications. Problems Encountered: I replaced My NP-F960's with NP-F970's. My problem is that 2 of the 4 batteries will shut off when used with the Sony HVL-20DW2 portable light. I must place them in the Sony charger to reset them before they will work again. All 4 of them work fine with the camera but only 2 are capable of working with the light. I used 4 NP-F960's previously without problems. Previous Equivalent Items Owned: NP-F960 Items I Recommend: A good recharger like the Sony AC-V700

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long life, reliable. For NP's, my experience has been that the Sony brand lasts the longest and is the most reliable in communicating with the camera as to how much battery life time is left. Very important when shooting professionally.
