Audio-Technica Pro 70 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone
Key Features
  • For Vocal & Acoustic Guitar Applications
  • Cardioid Polar Pattern
  • Switchable Low-Frequency Roll-Off
  • Operates on Battery or Phantom Power
The Audio-Technica Pro 70 is a cardioid lavalier microphone designed for vocal or instrument capturing in recording or sound reinforcement applications. The frequency response favors the mid-range frequencies of instruments and vocals while minimizing noise registering at high and low frequencies.

The cardioid polar pattern is effective in minimizing pickup at the off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. The result is improved signal before feedback response and minimal ambiance pickup. A low frequency roll-off switch further reduces low frequency noise due to hum, wind etc. The provided UM3 power supply provides phantom power with a single 1.5V AA battery or external phantom power source. The UM3 provides a standard 3-pin XLR output connection to mixers, preamplifiers, cameras etc.

Accurate Vocal and Acoustic Guitar Reproduction
The tailored frequency response favors the mid-range frequency response associated with vocal intelligibility and presence.
Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid pattern is effective in signal isolation. Audio signal at the off-axis sections of the capsule are attenuated, minimizing noise and improving gain-before-feedback response.
Low Frequency Roll-Off
A low frequency roll-off filter switch minimizes low frequency noise and rumble due to wind, hum and proximity effect.

Paper weight

Bought this used here - why? why? Not returnable paper weight - cable came with 90-degree bents on it and any touch to the cable a few inches below the mic head is very loud. Stick to the AT 803.

Good for multi-mic situations

I use three of these mics for interview situations, and their great advantage is that the directional design minimizes bleedover between mics thats common when using omnidirectional mics. Bought this one to round out the kit after using two of them along with an omni lab mic on a project and getting bleedover on the channel with the omni. Used all three of them in the second shoot on that project...no bleedover!

How can I connect the Audio-Technica Pro 70 to my Macbook Pro?
Asked by: Ljuba
The Audio-Technica Pro 70 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone can be adapted for connection to a Macbook with an audio interface that offers an XLR input connection. A simple option such as the Polsen XLR-USB-48 XLR to USB Audio Interface (BH #POXLRUSB48) could satisfy this criteria. A more popular option could be found in the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (BH #FOSCARSOLO3G).

is there a good wind screen for this microphone? ...

is there a good wind screen for this microphone? It is very sensitive to wind.
Asked by: John
Many of the Auray or Rycote windscreens or foam will work. Go to the Microphone product page on the B&H site then click on accessories - wind protection. I tape the mic to the talents skin under their collar using Bandaids - the adhesive is specially made to stick to skin and the cotton pad on the bandaid helps separate the mic from clothing rubbing noise.

question

i am a youtuber, would this work with pranks? like use it as a mic with a distant camera and itd record the audio??
Asked by: Noah M.
Unfortunately not. The Audio-Technica Pro 70 is not a wireless mic. It has a standard XLR mic cable. If you want to record audio at a distance from your camera then you would need to buy a wireless system.

question

Would this be compatible with a Panasonic GH4 video camera? Or is there a particular adapter/connector required?
Asked by: Anonymous
It has a full-size XLR connection. What input does your camera need? If you've got pro XLR you're all set. This is a great mic! If you have an 1/8 input, this isn't your microphone. :(

question

I bought two of these mics. I record a podcast in a car and use these mics. The problem is that it seems that any movement of the mic cable causes feedback in the recording... I don't understand why it is so sensitive. An arm brushing up to the mic cause noticeable audio distortion. any ideas?
Asked by: Kristopher L.
could be a bad cable, or connection. If same thing is happening with both mics, try either with windscreen on, with windscreen off.
