NewTek VT090000-0401 Overview

NewTek's Video Toaster 4.0 TV-Studio-in-a-Box for Windows is a broadcast solution for cost-conscious television producers. This feature-rich production bundle ships with VT[4] and an accompanying suite of applications and hardware that handles many aspects of television production.

Multi-format, live video switching, automated multi-channel audio mixing, hundreds of real-time transitions and effects, and uncompressed hard disk recording are just a few of the capabilities of this system. Editing and graphics are facilitated through VT-Edit and Lightwave, broadcast-quality applications that are founded in NewTek's real-time technology. Create your own television studio with the Video Toaster 4.0 TV-Studio-in-a-Box for Windows!

This bundle ships with the VT[4] software pack and VT[4] I/O PCI Card.

Live Switching
The VT[4] is designed for live, broadcast-quality switching, and provides a versatile, professional interface via the VT[4] application, RS-8 USB switcher (optional) and SX-84 Breakout I/O Panel (optional). Its live switching capabilities are capable of component, composite and S-Video I/O, unlimited DV inputs with real-time DV I/O, real-time chroma key and much more. In addition to all of this, you can use virtually any camera or deck with this system due to its internal Genlock function.
Audio Mixer
The Audio Mixer application can mix a multitude of audio sources through 4 balanced XLR mic/line inputs and 4 balanced XLR line outputs. Mix and adjust with EQ, balance, mute and mono for all audio inputs, plus distortion-free floating point audio, automated mixing between audio presets and an "audio-follows-video" function.
Digital Disk Recorder (VT-DDR)
This multi-format, multi-standard on-screen tape deck records multiple sources of uncompressed audio and video simultaneously, and the VT-DDR's playback functions include compressed or uncompressed playback, real-time transitions between clips, and a list function that allows playback of one clip or a list of clips, cued from the on-screen switcher.
Processing Amplifier
The internal processing amplifier stabilizes the video signal, regenerates sync pulses and color burst, and allows for over 70 adjustments, including brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, U/V offset and U/V gain. It also features an auto-calibrator that can be set to 75 IRE bars, 100 IRE bars or video pass-through mode.
VT-Scope
Use this on-screen scope to examine live full-frame waveform and vector-scope data at 60 fields-per-second. View waveforms of Y/C, Y, C, YUV or RGB, and vector-scope at 75% or 100% chroma.
VT-Vision
Monitor full-field program, preview, key, aux or DSK buses in 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios on-screen. The VT-Vision also allows for under-scan mode, YUV video display, zebra stripes for 75 IRE and illegal levels, and a processing amplifier for matching computer displays to reference monitors.
Character Generator
With powerful drawing tools, True Type compatibility, soft shadows and WYSIWYG editing, the VT[4] Character Generator is a fully-functional broadcast-quality media tool. Save pages as 32-bit images or animations, instantly save or recall text styles and save as a project or as individual pages.
Digital Video Effects
The VT[4] features over 500 real-time transitions and effects, including expansions, wipes, curls, trajectories, fades, ChromaFX, overlays, rotations, compressions and borders.
VT-Edit
Video Toaster has been revolutionizing real-time technology, and their new VT-Edit program demonstrates that perfectly. Unlimited A/V layering, 3-axis 3D layer control, color correction, Targa sequence playback, compressed and uncompressed playback, Firewire I/O, over 500 transitions, slow motion, reverse chroma and luminance keying, graphics scaling, video and audio filters, all in real-time, all completely accomplished through the VT-Edit software. In addition to its real-time capabilities, VT-Edit features an intuitive interface that combines timeline and storyboard editing, unlimited levels of undo that are saved with the project, multi-format and multi-standard compatibility, and 3D audio positioning for enhanced surround sound creation.
External Controller
Use on-screen jog and shuttle controls to operate remote devices through the DV interface, facilitating batch captures and saved configurations. RS-422 control is available through the optional SX-84 Breakout I/O Panel.
Lightwave 3D
Lightwave 3D is a high-quality 3D rendering application. It combines a fast, versatile modeler, lightning-fast, high-quality rendering, and advanced character-animation tools. Choose multiple cameras, unlimited points and polygons per object, and unlimited images and surfaces; generate particles and explosions; or import Adobe Illustrator data to create precise objects and trajectories.
Hardware
VT[4] I/O PCI Card
The VT[4] I/O PCI Card allows you the flexibility of using either the SX-84 Breakout I/O Panel, or just the included 15-pin high-density adapter cables to handle composite video, component video, S-Video, and balanced or unbalanced audio. The VT[4] card is analog and digital (8-bit ITU-R BT.601) compatible, and when used alongside the SX-84, it communicates via an internal 90-pin connector.
