This is a Lumedyne 400 watt/second Next Generation X-Tra Fast, extra short flash duration flash kit. Next Generation Power Packs offer the familiar simple controls that have been available from Lumedyne for over thirty years. Enhanced manufacturing techniques allow Lumedyne to offer greater reliability and accurate 7-light battery power level indications. In addition, a 50 w/s setting is available on this pack. This is a full F-stop lower than the Classic predecessors, the #065X/Z Packs.
Its main feature is an extra fast recycling time -- 2.8 seconds @ 400 w/s and .4 second @ 50 w/s. Flash duration is 1/1500 second @ 400 w/s (shorter @ lower power settings) for those photographers who shoot with leaf-shutter cameras in bright ambient light. These features make this pack suitable for most sports events, and fashion runway photography.
This pack cannot be used with the Mini Battery, and the usual number of flashes per charge of any Lumedyne battery used with this pack will be diminished by 30%. Not compatible with boosters or speed modules.
The flash head included in this kit can handle up to 2400 w/s. The flash head has a switched modeling light that dims during pack recycle. The coiled power cord stretches to approximately 4 feet. A head extension cable or a pack-to-stand mounting bracket is available if the head is to be used at a greater distance from the power pack.
A quick trickle charger is provided with this kit, and will recharge this kit's medium battery in 5 to 6 hours.
Lumedyne will then sell you a replacement battery at a mere percentage of its replacement cost, depending on the age of the battery.
