Chimera QR Speed Ring f/White Lightning Overview

This Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring allows mounting of Chimera, or almost any other brand rectangular softbox to a White Lightning Ultra flash head.

The Quick Release Series releases the tension of the wands in the frame of your softbox, allowing it to collapse easily for breakdown, or for moving on quickly to the next setup without disassembling the box.

This this is awesome!

Thanks to this speed ring, we turned a mostly useless Bowen mount softbox to one we can use with our Paul C Buff lights. Wow! We love how easy it is to break down a large softbox into a small manageable bundle for storage or transport. I highly recommend this product if you need it.

Very nice

I have the large (54x72) non-slim version of the Chimera softbox as well as the medium (36x48) version. While the medium one fits nice and comfortable on my strobes (Einsteins), the large one seems a bit too heavy and I worry that it will one day fall off the strobe. However, it hasn't fallen yet. There does appear to be three screw holes at the bottom of the ring (can't see in the picture). I'm thinking that there must be an additional support fixture that will allow me to attach the softbox to my light stand in order to take the weight off the strobe. I just need to find it. Other than that, this thing works very well for medium and smaller sizes. I don't have to worry about losing an eye during setup and teardown. If you're the type who leaves the poles in the softbox, then the setup is even quicker. For those who aren't sure how it works by just looking at the photo, the connections for the poles swivel 90 degrees forward. Once all the poles are connected and tightened, you pull back on each pole so that the connections swivels back outwards and locks into place as shown in the photo.

question

Is this the same as the Balcar version (B&H # CHSRQRB)? I wanted to use for Alienbee/Einstein since the Balcar one is on special order but Jon in the reviews says this one is a poor fit.

I bought this for my white lightnings and it fits great. Im pretty sure Einstein and alien bee have the same size speed ring as white lightning so you should be good to go with this
