The FlashFlip VertiGrip without Platform Base from Flash Frame features the same design as the FlashFlip VF, but does not come with the wide base. This makes it ideal for non-pro SLR or rangefinder-style medium format cameras.

The design of this bracket keeps the flash high and directly over the camera lens in both horizontal and vertical positions. In the Vertical mode, the user's hand is "on top" of the camera, the natural and most popular way to shoot verticals. This eliminates red-eye and unwanted side shadows. By having the flash high above the lens, shadows are cast behind the subject and are therefore not seen in the photograph.

This grip works with most SLR cameras and shoe-type flashes. Supplied with locking shoe and 1/4-20 flash mounts. All metal construction. Made in USA.

FlashFlip VertiGrip without Platform Base is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from FUNCTIONAL BUT LARGE I am the photographer for our organization. I usually have to shoot quickly and then sort the pictures. I bought it so I could shoot verticals without having to adjust the flash head. This is the one I chose. It flips easily and puts the flash up higher than the camera and eliminates those harsh shadows behind the subjects that we all see with on camera flashes.' I also use a Stofen diffuser that acts like a bare bulb and gives more even lighting. The combination requires a 1f stop increase but it's worth it. The drawback to the unit is that it is quite large and bulky. It would be better if the unit could be dismantled. I got use to it shortly, though. If the flip arm gets loose, tighten the nut. Overall I like the unit and the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Horizontal or vertical This couldn't be easier to use. It requires a dedicated flash cable from your camera's maker to get the flash away from the camera. This prevents those aggravating silhouettes behind your subjects. It makes for quick changes in orentation when you need it. And, B&H is now my only supplier on line. ...
