49mm Metal Lens Hood is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable hood; 58mm outer diameter thread Bought this to permanently permanently mount to a 35mm prime lens with 49mm threads. A perfect match and seems to be machined well; made in China but above-average build quality in my opinion. The inside of the hood has a matte finish that is also 58mm threaded; a 58mm lens cap fits neatly outside of the hood using these inner threads, which is what I have done. I docked one star for some light scuff marks on the inside matte finish, but I am just being picky since no one else would notice it inside the hooded area. Otherwise 5 stars from me for this great little lens hood that meets all of my expectations and which I recommend to anyone. Results may vary by lens, but I had no vignetting in the 35-50mm focal lengths.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modesst Priced But Functional Hood USAGE I use hoods on all my lenses to control and minimize flare. I bought a few lenses used that arrived without hoods and I looked on B&H for reasonably priced ones. BENEFITS * Controls and minimizes flare. * Provides secondary benefit as a protector of the lens' front element. I use the lens front cap as my first line of defense, but I have had a hood save a lens before. DRAWBACKS None. CONCLUSION Unless one is attempting to employ flare creatively I see no reason why nay photographer should be without a hood for each lens. This one is priced right and gets the job done nicely!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never knew I needed one! I have had my 50mm manual focus lens since I started with the K-1000. It didn't come with a lens hood. I bought a rubber one but rarely used it because I didn't see a difference. The proper shape makes a difference. I can tell when I look through the viewfinder of my K-5 that there's less light bouncing off the lens. There's a clarity to the image that wasn't there before. Nicely made metal hood. Screws on easily. Well worth the price. Can't see how one costing 3x the price would be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kalt metal hood, Just what I needed! I am a great believer in lens hoods-- especially since I do a fair bit of contre-jour shooting. This baby wworks, was cheap, sturdy as heck and screwed right on my (Pentax) lens with no issues with cross threading or slightly different thread pitch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good lens hood In light of a metallic lens hood, the price is good. It has also good finishing. Con: cannot use filter after mounting on this hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but can't fit lens cap I would love this hood, but my clip-on caps will not fit on it properly. It would have been perfect.
