This is what looks like the strap I have on my 10D. Love that the rings are nice & small and easy to get on the camera. It's not the fanciest of leather straps but it's getting the job done.

Im seeing the most complaints being about the plastic lining. Would it be worth it to simply have the lining replaced on the strap?
I'm not really sure what complaints you're referring to. I bought a 2 wide strap for my backup camera. My main camera is using a 2 strap I've had since my navy days in the 80's.Personally I don't trust the straps that comes with these cameras nowadays but these 2 straps have clips so i know they are attached to the camera.
