The Afro-Cuban Percussion CD-ROM in EXS24 format from Sonic Implants features a variety of percussion instrument from the Afro-Cuban traditions. The instruments were recorded in ambient stereo and close-mic'd mono variations with multiple articulations (hits) per instrument and up to four velocity samples from soft to loud to provide complete control over a mix.
Instruments include Afoxe, Agogo Bells, Ankle Bells, Berimbau, Bongos, Caxixi, Cha Cha Bells, Claves, 3 Congas (Quinto, Secundo and Tumbadora,) Cowbell Hi/Mid/Low, Cuica, Finger Snaps, Frogs Eggs, Cuban Guiro, Meringue Guiro, Jam Blocks, Large Basket, Maracas, Pandiero, Reco Reco, Repenique, Samba Whistles, Sencero, 3 Surdos (Bombo, Cortador and Macana,) Tamborim, Timbales, Timbalitos and Vibraslap.
All the instruments were provided and played by Joe Galeota and recorded with engineer Mark Tanzer at Blue Jay Studios in Carlisle, MA.
