question

Maybe a silly question but if the mini boom has a max load of 2 lbs, and the counter balance weight is 3 lbs, aren't you already over max load capacity?
Asked by: Anonymous
This is a physics question. The maximum load is from the balance point or fulcrum, so you have a 3 pound movable weight on one one side of the boom (the short side), and 2 pound limit on the long side of the arm. There is enough capacity for an umbrella or soft box of reasonable size and weight. I use a 30 soft box with 2 speed lights on my boom arm. The arm is quite strong.
