Well made, sturdy. Hard to find item from yesteryear. 8mm home movies are a thing of our past. The only ones you are likely to encounter are antiques today. But, when you need an empty reel to replace a broken or lost one, you need someone to buy it from. You can get used ones from ebay, erc., but you will pay more from there. B&H has new ones at a decent price and are well made.

There is no information available about the diameter of the center of the reel--it's a standard size for an 8mm film reel.

Will this work with the wolverine pro 8mm converter? I have film without a reel i want to convert, not sure if i should go with a vintage leader or this

My Yankee Reel & can (YARCU400) comes with the reel shaft diameter hole of 1/2 inch and an additional insert to fit this hole fitting a shaft diameter of 5/16". The reel is plastic.

what size is reel?
Reel is 5 diameter, another thing - the area that shows open where you insert the film strip, some of them arrived without that area having been cut out. It was thin so it wasn't too hard to fix, however it was an added step necessary before I could use them. Shows to me a lack of care in manufacturing.

Can this be used as a take up reel? Does it have a slot to put the movie film into?
Yes, that is actually what I bought it for. It only holds 200 ft. of film (about 8 minutes of Super).

Is this for regular (standar) 8mm or Super 8mm?
It will work for both. There is an adapter sleeve included of the center that converts from Super8 to 8mm when installed.

do you sell empty spools for standard 8mm film?
Please of the formatting of this website I can't put a link but if you have a regular 8mm camera and need a take up spool for the camera I would just buy a roll of black and white and dump the film from that roll. If you have a super 8 camera you do not need a take up reel in the camera. Have fun

How do I get film with movies already on the film to watch on my projector
I purchase films on eBay, at antique stores and sometimes auctions. Estate sales are best as many antique dealers don't bother selling films. Castle Films are commercial releases that are very common, but most are silent. If your projector is equipped to play sound, it may be more difficult to find sound films in 8mm.
