    M-Audio EX-P reviews

    EX-P - Expression Pedal is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This pedal serves its purpose! I use this with M-Audio's KeystationPro 88 midi-controller keyboard. When sequencing, it's nice to have hands free CC input. This is what this pedal does. I simply assign the midi CC # to the pedal via the keyboard that I wish to use. It works great; it serves its funcion. The parameter range (0 - 127) can be adjusted on the pedal. This is a nice feature. I just wish it was sturdier. I'm concerned that it could easily break if roughly handled. It is plastic pedal and not a more sturdier metal pedal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good ! Two things stick out with the EX-P pedal, that is it's the cheapest on the market and it weighs next to nothing compared to all the others. Both of this point were important to me. For my uses it works very well. I'll see how it'll be holding up over the years. But I can imagine that when treated gently it'll serve me for quite a while. There's no tricks built-in as some other pedals have, like 2nd output or reverse polarity etc, that's what makes it cheaper. The main reason for me though really is the light weight as I travel a lot with my equipment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look elsewhere The price may be reasonable, but honestly this is a cheaply made product. It feels flimsy under foot, has a limited range of motion and in my case stopped working after less than a week. I purchased this because the Yamaha FC-7 pedal was incompatible with one of my controllers even with the polarity switched. However, if your handy with a soldering iron you can do what I did and swap the pot out on the FC-7. The Yamaha pedal is a solid choice that feels like an extension of a professional instrument whereas this pedal feels like a cheap toy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great action, plastic pedal This foot pedal is very smooth. Build quality is a thick plastic body with nice grabby rubber inserts to stomp on... The Yamaha FC-7 pedal is a lot heftier. It has a metal body covered with a knobby rubber cover. Better build maybe, but the action isn't as nice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from does the job in a pinch I bought this pedal to use with my Korg 01. It worked after I flipped the polarity switch. I use the Korg keyboard to trigger audio samples on my notebook. However, at least one of the virtual synths I run in Cubase only seems to recognize 10 different steps on this pedal, so the tone of the instrument jumps when I apply the pedal. That is to say, I don't get 128 incremental midi values. I only get 10. I don't know if this is the fault of the pedal, or is a software compatibility problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I shoulda bought in the first place Works exactly as it's supposed to with M-Audio Axiom 61 MkII - Smooth values though the entire range of rocker travel. A little on the down side, there is just enough friction to keep the foot pedal where you leave it, but with such little resistance, if your foot is on the rocker and you cough a little, you will probibly move the rocker changing the value. I might try to see what i can do mecanically to either tighten the existing bolt with out breaking it or figure something out... but it is not a game breaker in the slightest ... yes it is very light ... yes it is plastic ... but it works. ... now, what i originally bought for this use was the Moog EP-1 after reading a ton of glowing reviews ... horrible for use with the axiom ... i wrote a review on that page on what happened. if you own an Axiom, buy this and plug it into your expression input ... i changed the value to CC1 mirroring the mod wheel ... perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good for the cheap price This pedal needs some thin foam or some strips of the fuzzy side of velcro between the front and back pedal stops to stop the audible clickyness of the plastic construction, but it seems like a durable product & is actually fairly sturdy considering it's all plastic construction, and for the price, I can't complain at all. Works as it should for an expression pedal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth pedal, works great. I use it as a volume control on my guitar amp. Gives me nice convenient control over the amp without having to go over to it. I can tune up silently too. Very convenient. Stays where I put it when playing too. Great addition to the equipment box for the money.
