    Manfrotto 529 Reviews

529 Hi Hat with 100mm Bowl is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid little product Pretty nice little hi-hat, not much else to say. I use it to get the low angle shots that my sticks just won't get to. Using this with the 75mm adapter for a 502 head, and a DSLR rig. Works perfectly for this application. I liked that the 529 was heavier than the Manfrotto alternative, as it helps with stability. If you're planning on a lot of movement, though, you'll likely want to screw it down to a pancake/apple box/etc. Two things to be aware of: 1: The leg latches are sticky. Not sure if it's just my sample, but they don't seem to be spring loaded. So I have to find the preset notches on my own, and physically push the locks into place. Slightly annoying but not huge. 2: Even with the 319SH shorty handle, you're not going to get this thing much lower that it appears in the photo. Build quality is the usual Manfrotto standard: solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value, very versatile We use this for a range of cameras from the FS100 to the RED one and Varicam. Very tough, versatile and it looks great. The leg clips are the only weak spot and have been on most manfrotto legs for years. Excellent value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and heavy but works great One of my shooters asked for a small tripod for shooting the blooming of flowers. Told her she was nuts and would look for one at NAB. In the mean time just use a sand bag. While at the John Lennon Experience bus at NAB I noticed this small tripod. Perfect for what my shooter wanted. It gets way down almost to ground level and supports a full size ENG camera. Plus the cost fits nicely into my equipment budget. My shooter loves it but now says it is heavy. Told her to hit the gym and do some free weights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Hi Hat! Honestly, this is one of the few Manfrotto Products that I love, but it is really solidly built, and the fact that it folds (making it more compact for travelling), is huge to me. I use this with RED cameras, Canon Cinema Cameras, Sony Cameras, and it works like a charm. Easy to carry. And bonus points that it looks like a transformer, which my son likes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality build and design. Essential for low angle shooting, this hi-hat is top-quality built and designed, and pairs with many other accessories and all your 100mm bowl fluid heads. The holes at the end of the legs are in fact really useful for a stable connection onto light dollies or skaters like the omni-tracker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfict & Sturdy AS I Said Nice and Sturdy for a High hat that can travell pretty much flat(Head removed) in my pelican case for carry on. I love it and would highly recommend it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, small, but heavy as sin I purchased this Hi Hat for a portable alternative to carrying around a large tripod when traveling. Size wise it's fantastic. It folds up nicely, it's sturdy, and it works well. However, the little thing is super heavy for it's size. This little guy with head is like 11 pounds! It weights the same as my 10ft carbon fibre sticks! Wow! Otherwise I like it and I would recommend it.

Since the product page showed only one product picture, I saw a big hole in the middle, and there's no way to know about the constructure. After buying this(not yet), what else should I buy to make a whole camera-supporting system? Thanks.
    Asked by: ZH X.
This is designed to be used with either a 100mm or 75mm fluid ball head (there's an adapter so the 75mm head will work).
