Is this used to mount a tripod head onto the dana dolly? If not, could you point me in the direction of what can accomplish that
The Manfrotto 500BALLSH 100mm Half-Ball with Short Locking Handle, would be appropriate for mounting a Manfrotto flat head (or similar tripod head) for use on a Dana Dolly with the 100mm bowl.

While the Manfrotto 500BALLSH 100mm Half-Ball with Short Locking Handle, should work fine with the Benro S8Pro, a more appropriate bowl for that tripod head, would be the Benro 75mm Half Ball Adapter B&H # BEBL75S. Either bowl would work with the Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System Rental Kit, with the appropriate bowl adapter (which come included in the Dana Dolly kit).

The thread on the top of this half ball it 3/8 -16. This is the world-wide standard for the large camera mounting thread. 1/4 -20 is the world-wide standard for the smaller tripod thread.

I want to make the screw thread longer on top, but there doesn't seem to be a way to loosen either nut, and the three grub screws don't seem to serve any purpose, so...what do I do?
If the screw is fully engaged, then it will hold any camera. There is no user adjustability to this tie-down.
