With the weight of a Kino-Flo Diva light (which has onboard ballast), having the off-set adapter really helps to distribute the weight evenly and nicely on a light stand. You don't need this adapter, and can get away without it but, I would recommend having one for the heavier lights that can make a light stand (even with a sandbag on it) more unsafe on set.
A must adapter for Kino Flo lights

This is a must for Kino Flo lights. Otherwise your light would be unstable in the stand, more so the higher you extend the stand. This off-set adapter will balance the weight of the lamp on the stand. If you don't use one you would probably need to drop plenty of sand bags on the stand legs. And even so, it would look somehow tilted or bent (more so if the stand is extended). It would look dangerous, unprofessional.

Would this work to help me extend my baby plates ...
Would this work to help me extend my baby plates that aren't quite long enough to fit my new lights? Like an extender, or should I just get new baby plates?

Depends on how much extension you need and if you want it offset.

Wanting to attach Tegra 455 to C-stand boom arm so that I can let 4Bank remain vertical, but be low to the ground. Current lollipop doesn't work by itself. Will this do it?

The Kino Flo Off-Set Female Mounting Plate Adapter - 5/8 is used to center the weight and balance of the fixture on the stand. While it may work for your usage needs, it will still require the use of the lollipop connector to support the light fixture.

Will this work as an exender of sorts for my baby plates which have too short a rod for my new lights?

This could be an option for mounting lights on wall plates with a baby pin.

question
Can this be used to center the gravity of a 4 bank 2' Kino, like one from the:Kino Flo 4Bank 3-Light Interview Kit (2')?
Asked by: Nathan
2-ft 4-bank uses a backplate with a 3/8 stem that mounts to a grip head. This product is is meant for lights with 5/8 female receivers that mount on baby stands. You would have to buy another style backplate (model MTP-BL41) for your 2x4 kino to use this offset with a baby stand.
