Epson S041897 reviews

UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I have purchased dozens of boxes of 17x22 Epson Ultra-Smooth paper from a variety of retailers - often via Amazon - and on several occasions, I have had to return them because some if not all of the sheets were bent or creased, usually at the corners. I recently purchased 3 boxes of Ultra-Smooth from the B&H superstore and was very pleased to discover that every sheet was in perfect condition. B&H did a terrific job packing the boxes securely so as to avoid the kind of damage I've come to expect from other retailers. If you're planning to buy this product, I highly recommend buying it from the B&H superstore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Epson has cheapened this paper I am a professional fine-art photographer. I make prints I sell in galleries. I use this paper for almost all my projects and still think it's one of the most beautiful papers. However, Epson keeps cheapening the product. Of 25 sheets, you can maybe use half that, perhaps even fewer, for the prints you will sell or exhibit. Every sheet has a dark spot or imperfection. There is clearly no quality control. The sheets in the latest box I just opened are also much thinner than before. I was using Hot Press Natural before and it was cheapened and degraded so much I cannot use it any more as the quality of my prints suffered considerably. It is sad for us who depend on this product. I have complained to them and gotten nowhere with it because they ultimately don't care.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Let Down by Terrible Quality Control This is gorgeous paper when Epson is able to achieve the desired quality. However, recently, I have had problems with sheets that are flawed with dark spots embedded in the paper or deep indentations of up to three inches (long) in the paper. The dark spots might not be a problem for people who are printing with relatively dark ink on the entire surface of the paper, but if you have a print that happens to use a light color in that area, or (worse) has no information to print in that area, the dark spots show up very clearly. Over the years that I've been using Epson papers and printers, I had only needed to call them a couple of times, and their tech support people have been very impressive. However, when we called about this paper problem, Epson told us that it's not possible for them to replace this paper because they do not carry this product in their returns and exchanges department.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dynamic results for a digital artist I purchased this product for fine art prints of digital drawings using an Epson Stylus Pro 3880. The color was incredibly vivid and I was particularly happy with the deep, dark saturation of the black. In the past, I had tried to take a digital image, where the color is generated by light on a computer screen, to print, where color is produced by ink, with poor results. The color became dark and details were lost. The Epson Ultra-Smooth Fine Art Paper coupled with the Epson 3880 printer produced dynamic screen to print results. The only reason the product rates a four-star and not five, is that once printed, one must be careful not to have anything touch large areas of black print since scratches and scuff marks show easily in these areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Matt This is my first choice for landscapes since the surface does not interfere with the look in any way. Good color gamut and fairly bright without brighteners. My goto paper for fine art matt finishes on my Epson SP 4900. This paper surface is also fairly fragile so prompt framing or separate sleeves are recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I'm using this paper with my Epson Pro 3800 printer and printing photographs. It has a very white base and reproduces colors beautifully. It lends the photos a fine art appearance that I don't think you get with glossy photo papers. This paper wont work with older printers. I tried it (in a smaller size) with my old Epson 1280 and I could never get the colors to match no mater how much I tweeked the profiles. I recommend this paper if you have the right printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The premier of papers! I use Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art Paper with Epson printers, 4800,7800 and 9800 for printing Digital Fine Art original prints using the matte black Ultrachrome ink series. It provided the richest saturation of colors and complete blacks that have a ultra-black velvet appearance. I have tried others but always return this paper for complete print satisfaction. Note that this is not their Velvet Fine Art but the Ultra Smooth Fine Art Paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best fine art paper on the market I produce archival fine art reproductions for artists and for my own work. This is, without a doubt, the best paper I have ever used. I usually use 24x30, but sadly Epson doesn't seem to make that size anymore. It is a great loss, and I hope Epson comes to their senses.
