LPR (light pollution reduction) filters are designed to selectively reduce transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. These include mercury vapor, high & low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emissions in our atmosphere. The UHC LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters, giving darker background skies and noticeably improved contrast of emission nebulae. The advanced coatings enable and impressive 97% total transmission across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. It is a perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies as well as for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites.

I have a Celestron CPC 1100 telescope. I live in fairly rural area (no street lights), however there is still 'skyglow' from neighbors, etc. I screw this filter onto my 2 inch eyepiece, and it increases the contrast for those dim nebulae, etc. I tried viewing Jupiter with it, but it caused discoloration (this was expected).

question
I have a 2 Gosky Astronomical Extender that says it has 2 inch filter threads . Will this filter thread into this extender?
If you have a 2" eyepiece, yes.

question
Has anyone used this for Astrophotography with a DSLR and coma corrector?. I use an 8in Newtonian.I live in light polluted area and can only get 2 minutes with ISO 400 and 50 sec w/ ISO 800. Will this filter help?
This filter would help definitely. Just make sure you have the right size eyepiece size for your scope. This model is the 2 . We also have a 1.25 size too. Here is the link to the smaller size: http://bhpho.to/1Luj0jC

question
are there male and female tread on filter?
The filter is threaded both male and female and can be stacked closely. Nice.
