The Behringer MS40 is a pair of shielded 2-way monitor speakers with an Active Main/Passive Satellite system design. The speakers are powered by 20 Watts per channel of internal amplification, and offer TOSLINK and Coaxial SPDIF digital input capability with full 24-bit/192kHz D/A converters.

The 4.75" woofers and unusually large 2.5" tweeters of the MS40's are housed in a tuned, ported bass-reflex cabinet. Treble, Bass and Volume controls are easily accessed on the front panel of the Main speaker, and a standard stereo 1/4" headphone output is available as well. All controls and connectors, except for the Passive Satellite cable input, are located on the Main speaker, along with the amplifier.

    Behringer MS40 reviews

    MS40 - 2-Way 40-Watt 24-bit/192kHz Hybrid Nearfield Monitors - Pair is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite decent at mid to low volumes Pros: These speakers do a good job (at low to mid volume levels) of providing adequately neutral sound (not boomy or tinny). Cons: Crank the volume much past the midpoint tho and things start to distort badly. Also, at midpoint volume on a bass-heavy track, air will be forced out around/through the control knobs and headphone jack. Sorta whistles. Overall: For the price, they have a nice set of features and sound good as long as you don't push them. I have them plugged into the SPDIF output on my TV which passes through the audio from the HDMI source. Saved me the expense of a receiver for the second TV.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from worth the price I use these speakers for video editing. I needed something with good sound and volume. These speakers delivered. I also like that you have 2 inputs and seperate volume control if you wanted to mix 2 different sounds. The sound is good and crisp for the price range. Nice look too. Only thing bad about them is the air that pushes through, but that is only if you are really cranking them up. Tested them out with @ and CD. Outside of that these speakers are solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget headphones for editing, these are great OK, you probably still need to make a final pass at audio on headphones and other reference systems, but these are great in a small studio for getting the audio right when I edit video. I found that I was straining to hear with my old Bose speakers or the Apple speakers in my 27 monitors. These are clear, seem to be super-accurate, and powerful enough to enjoy for all audio sources in my room (from editing on FCPX to watching TV on a break. I love that they have digital input, too. I've used them for several hours every day in the last week or two, and I can't think of anything I would change. I wish I had made the move a year ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Happy These speakers ROCK for real. I didn't expect them to sound so clean for the price.I think theres are the best speaker in there class and are WELL worth the price.I'm using them in a Multi Media room to monitor sound on my video editing.I think the tweeter's are a little on the light side but I just reduced the bass and there perfect .When I play a mp3 its really clean.I ran them overnight a very low volume with mp3's running to Break Them I have always done this because you should let woofers bound on a low volume. I would also like to commend B&H for there amazing customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job and does it well These two mid-sized speakers provide clean and clear sound through digital hook up. they support up to 192kHz which is the highest most of us will ever need. The wattage is sufficient for most applications such as gaming, playing music and checking our your digital recordings. Don't be supprised if you begin to notice the limitations of your mp3 and m4a files. These puppies are meant for the highest quality audio from cd's and recorded with high-end sound recording audio interfaces. It works well with my entry-level EMU 0404 usb 2.0 audio interface device. (although i'm not sure i would recomend this device but thats not what this review is about). Expect booming bass and crystal clear treble and to really hear the difference between compressed audio and the best sampling. These are somewhat heavy and will arrive in a rather large box about 4-4.5ft by 2.5ft by 2ft (ruff estimate). they weigh like 25 pounds together

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great nearfield monitors for the price! I purchased the MS40's as nearfield monitors for my computer, which I connected via an outboard USB DAC. Great sounds and no AC hum. I also optically connected them to a WD HD TV media adapter and they worked great too. They have plenty of power (2x20W) for healthy volume, two independently controlled mixing inputs (1/8 line / digital and RCA), bass & treble controls as well as a 1/4 headphone jack which I haven't used. My only minor complaint is that at elevated volumes, air passes out of the headphone jack - I don't know why they didn't use an enclosed jack...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound in an affordable monitor I'm using these in my home Final Cut Pro X video editing suite. There are certainly more expensive speakers out there but these sound great and have a reasonable footprint. My sound mixing has improved greatly since using these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the price For the price, it's a very good deal. The sound is flattish while not reference. I had to substract a star because of the noisy headphone output. It's an important feature for me but not usable in my opinion.
