This 4 x 4" Tiffen Water White ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 4-stop exposure reduction. This 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control the depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The difference between the two filters is that theTIND.9W45P filter (the more expensive of the two) is made with Tiffens Water White Glass. This will make the filter less likely to give a color cast to the image.

Is this filter reflect or does it absorb the light? I am worried about heating of the surface of the filter.
This is a Neutral Density filter which is designed to limit the amount of light reaching your cameras sensor. It works very similarly to a pair of sunglasses. This particular ND filter is 5 stops (1.5) meaning only 1/32 of all light passes through it. This filter is commonly used in sunlight without any issues regarding the surface of the filter heating.
