Waves MaxxBCL Overview

The MaxxBCL from Waves is a hardware unit containing three processors and housed in a 2U rack-mount chassis. The unit contains a bass enhancer, dual mode compressor and look ahead peak limiter, processors based on Waves' successful plug-ins. The MaxxBass also contains a high definition set of input and output digital converters with comprehensive connectivity.

For broadcast, the unit can help in providing bass boost without cutting into the signal headroom, while providing a well-mannered signal to codecs. Its combination of world-class bass enhancement, compression and limiting, plus its rugged construction make it the ideal hardware solution for live venues of all shapes and sizes. It can increase bass response while reducing low frequency energy and relieves the strain on power amps and speakers.

Mastering and Post Production benefit from the MaxxBCL by allowing the engineer to create audio that translates well to every kind of system, large and small. Premium 24-bit A/D and D/A converters with high definition 96kHz sample rate and 48-bit double precision internal signal processing is aided by a passive analog input path with superior quality transformers. IDR (Increased Digital Resolution) with noise shaping and dithering provides the final link in the process.

MaxxBass
Waves process that delivers rich, deep bass from virtually any speaker.
Using the psycho-acoustic phenomenon of the missing fundamental, MaxxBass combines precise harmonics to extend perceived bass by up to 1.5 octaves, while protecting speakers and amplifiers from overload.
Renaissance Compressor
Dynamics processor, delivering studio-style warmth with vintage Opto or modern Electro modes.
Waves Automatic Release Control, RenComp produces increased RMS level with unmatched clarity. It's like a leveler and a fast compressor in one.
L2 Ultramaximizer
Increases the average signal level without artifacts or distortion.
Setup is as simple as setting the threshold and defining the peak level. The L2 does the rest.
General
High resolution analog to digital and digital to analog converters with AES, coaxial and optical S/PDIF digital connectivity and BNC Wordclock input.
48 bit end-to-end internal processing path
High performance IDR dithering to 16 or 24-bit output
Jensen analog input and output transformers
