    Vixen Optics 1122 reviews

8x20 Multi Monocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK but with very short eye relief Close foucus is about 30cm. You can use it as a magnifying glass. The focus ring is very smooth. The metal finish is similar to that of a cameara lens. Image quality is OK. Sharp and with high contrast. No or very little CA under high contrast region. However, it is quite dim. At least not as bright as I expected. Very short eye relief. You can't see the entire field of view if you wear glasses(Even you have folded down the rubber eyeguard). I think only 70%. For those who don't wear glasses, you have to press your eye socket firmly on the rubber eyeguard in order to have 100% field of view. Great depth of view when viewing distant objects. You don't need to turn the focus ring so much. However, the depth of view become very shallow when <1m. It requires many turns to focus close objects. The monocular almost double it's length when focus on 30cm. The cap on the objectuve lens is very loose. Price too high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from less known/excellent quality I am very satisfied with my purchase. Originally I went to B&H in NYC to purchase the Vortex Optics Solo Tactical RT 8x36. Once I saw the gigantic size of the Vortex, and aware of how expensive the Leica monocular is, I asked for help from the salesperson. It did not take long for me to realize the Vixen 8x20. It is small enough to be kept inside any pocket. It is sharp and very well-built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right balance I originally bought a cheap monocular and it was bulky and had miserably bad optics - definitely not worth it. This is very compact (although does elongate quite a bit when focusing on close objects) and the optics are great. If you want a decent quality product, this is probably the price point to go with. I haven't used the Leica or Zeiss monos, but I would suspect the added $300 would be hard to justify for all but the most discerning optics nerds. The size is great too - easily fits in a pocket. During the day the difference between 20 and 40mm is barely noticeable and I'll happily trade a tiny bit less light for the compact size. I didn't care for the protruding eyelet for the neck strap, but it easily unscrews. I also found the focus to be real smooth sometimes, but sometimes feels a little frictiony for lack of a better word. The inconsistent feel is a very minor annoyance and not worth knocking a star off an otherwise 5 star product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would definitely buy this again as a gift for one or more Great little scope. Love the fact that I can wear it around my neck to use it on the spot at any time. Easy to focus, and you need no more that the 8 power this little monocular gives you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright, clear view with macro focus Wonderful for checking something at a distance and yet, with its 20mm minimum focusing distance, can be very useful for close-up examination of details. All of this utility in a small package that will fit in a shirt pocket if necessary. If you don't have it with you, you can't use it. You'll likely have this great, small optic nearby.
