The Telex PH-8S single-sided headset is specifically designed for Sony cameras, to provide reliable communication through carbon camera intercoms, in television studios or remote production locations.

The PH-8S comes with a sensitive, omnidirectional carbon microphone, optimized for the spoken voice frequency range, and compatible with Western Electric-type intercom circuits. The microphone is mounted on a fully adjustable swiveling boom that positions on either side of the head.

The PH-8S earphones have sensitive magnetic receivers that can be easily removed and replaced in the field, conveniently and economically. The adjustable headband for the headset is nicely padded, and fits comfortably for extended wear. A high quality, tangle resistant, unterminated coiled cord, featuring durable strain relief at the ear cup, can be easily equipped with site-specific custom connectors as required.

    PH-8S - Single-Sided Camera Intercom Headset is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Headsets We use these with our studio cameras and they are wonderful. We have used them for over four years and will not go back to the system before these. They are the perfect fit for any TV studio.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only okay. We've used these headsets with our Sony studio cameras for years... I'll start with the good: they're compact and easy to use, and they're relatively inexpensive. Sound quality is just fine, fit and comfort level is decent. There are no controls on the headset; to turn off the mic you simply rotate it to an upright position away from your mouth. I do have a few issues with these headsets... They're a little flimsy, and not so durable. We have 4 studio cameras, and over the years we've replaced all of these headsets several times over. Here's the normal chain of events: first, the foam bits on the ear pad and mic deteriorate and fall off. Then eventually the mic stops working or the cable wears out and the signal becomes intermittent. Then we chuck them and get new ones. Now, to be fair, we use our gear almost daily, and sometimes there is some accidental abuse by our staff and interns. Still, these headsets just weren't made to last forever. Due to the relatively fragile nature of these headsets, as well as the limited control, we are looking at getting a separate (hopefully wireless) headset system... But that's beside the point. Bottom line, they're good inexpensive headsets that work fine and last for a little while.
