Cokin CH50358 overview

  • 1Description

Cokin P Series Neutral Graduated Starter Kit - Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes.

Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky while exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark and under-exposed. Cokin graduated gray ND filters are part clear, part neutral density. They allow the transition to be blended into the scene, often imperceptibly.

A ND.6-to-clear, with a two stop differential, will generally compensate the average bright sky-to-foreground situation and is also the most popular density of the series.

Note: This filter measures 85 x 85 mm and fit the Cokin P series holder

Neutral Graduated Starter Kit - Fits P Series is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter kit Just received the kit and have tested it out in the middle of the day. It was nice to get the adapter ring, which you usually have to buy separately. It definitely does make a difference in glare factor and on helping bring out better color in the sky. I noticed a big difference in getting more detail on big storm clouds and on taking photo's of flowers in the middle of the day.I plan on getting another filter (Cokin 121S) which is a 3 stop filter. Most of my photo's are taken during harse sunlight so I'm hoping this will further help with glare on the lakes and brighten the sky.I look forward to testing it more, always fun to get more toys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cokin Graduated ND Filter I had purchased Cokin filters in the past for my film SLR and because of the many pieces (as opposed to one screw-on filter) had not used them very much. However, I had scheduled a special guided photo tour on Caddo Lake (Texas) in late May and wanted to make the most of this opportunity, so I purchased a P Series Cokin graduated ND starter kit for my digital SLR. And, boy, were the results worth it! The area around the lake was somewhat swampy with many cypress trees and much spanish moss. Using the filter for the first time, it handled the high contrast of a sunny sky perfectly. Out of appx 350 shots, about 50-60 were real keepers, a ratio I considered great. Out of many sunset shots where I used the filter on both high and low graduated levels, all were acceptable and some were spectacular. I will never leave home without this Cokin filter packed in my camera bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter it The 58mm adapter screws easily into the front of the lens and the filter holder slips over the ring, what could be simpler? The filter holder has a tab to lock it onto the adapter ring so it cannot slip off. There are slots for three flat filters or one round and two flat filters. All very simple but very efficient to use. We are looking forward to using this for scenic shots on our trip to Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sky Filter Works great to balance a difference in lighting intensities, for example, a sky that is brighter than the ground. I like that Cokin offers this as a kit i.e.-filter, adapter ring and filter holder makes it very convenient for the photographer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what the instructor requiered! When on a photography shoot with instructors guidance to take pictures of lake/mountains on a cloudy/rainy afternoon with slow shtter speed. It worked great! Thanks for all the great help!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product It does a great job, especially on landscape shots. While not as durable as some of the competitors glass filters, this is a great deal for the money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An outstanding value! These starter kits include the adapter, the holder and one filter for less than one-half the price of the individual pieces.
