Olympus PTMC-01 overview

  • 1Description

The Olympus PTMC-01 is a high quality macro conversion lens that works on many of the Olympus housings that have a 67mm thread. It attaches to the front exterior of the housing's lens port. The lens could be used with other Olympus housings with the use of a step-up ring. It has a magnification of 2x.

The PTMC-01 allows you to get close to small subjects. This will improve your underwater photos by increasing contrast and color saturation.

    Olympus PTMC-01 reviews

PTMC-01 Macro Conversion Lens is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money I used this macro on a 5060 and the pics came out very well. I've also used an Inon macro and I'm debating which one I liked more. So if you're wondering if you have to have this lens... I think Inon is comperable. Pros: Being able to switch lenses underwater Accomidates for the PT-020 housing Cons: Did not seem as durable as other lenses but I have no evidence to back that up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent macro lens As with most things made by Olympus I expect the optics to do the job as described and I was not disappointed. Underwater it is easy to screw on, just don't drop it. Ideally it is best to have it already attached when entering the water. If you must attach it underwater I recommend storing it in an old thick sock and in a thigh or waist mounted pouch of some kind. In this way it will be protected from any abrasions and scratches. Given the shallow Depth of Field nature of macro photography be particularly aware of exactly where you place the subject. With a bit of practice you will achieve surprisingly good results and be well rewarded. For the expense it is excellent bang-for-buck. I mated this lens with the PT-050 underwater case for the XZ-1 camera, an awesome combination IMHO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this lens I used this lens on a recent dive trip and it helped me take some very nice photos of fish and other sea life that I have not previously been able to take. I put a filter on it to protect the lens and I discovered that particulate matter would collect in between the lens and the filter. I think this occured during the rinsing process. It is a simple matter to remove the filter at the start of the dive, swoosh out the particulate and replace the filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens! Great pictures! I used the lens with the E-PL2 underwater housing. I took some great shot with it. I used it with the 14-42 lens. Sometimes the focus was a little slow because of the lens but the focusins capacity gave some great macro shots. Also used it with the 9-18 lens. The pictures were better and the focus easier but harder to shot macro since the 9-18 doesn't allow to focus very much on subject. Use of a undertawer flash is a necessity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value I have only had my camera a few months, but a trip south let me know i really wanted a wet mount macro for this new camera set up, it's original Olympus lense fits like a dream, can't wait for feb to go south and try it all out again. B&H has quick service and i saved at least 100 dollars even adding Shipping and duty, I recieved my Pkg. in 3 days, nice quick service, will be ordering again from this company!!! Great Job

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Underwater Macro Unless you can change out the port on your underwater outfit an conversion lens is the way to go. This is a quality product that does the job although inferior to a dedicate underwater macro lens with the proper port.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very helpful lens This lens can focus from a variety of distances, not just super close like a macro only adapter. I leave it on most of the time and only remove it for more distant or larger subjects. Glad I got it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for U/W macro photography A simple way to include macro shooting without expensive lenses. An adapter is required. This lens can be removed and replaced while underwater. Excellent choice.
