Whats the best way to connect to a PC for making mp3's? There are no RCA jacks on my laptop.
The ART DeeJay Pre can be connected to a simple USB audio interface which will allow an analog source to be connected to a computer via USB. Using a unit such as the Behringer UCA 202 you can connect the 2 using a standard RCA cable. http://bhpho.to/1CMSAW2

I'm setting up a new turntable and am having trouble with the preamp. From troubleshooting I think it is a problem with the power supply. The original power supply broke, so I replaced it but didn't realize the output amps were slightly higher (output at 2A). Has anyone experienced "sound clipping" because of an overly powerful power supply? Or does the "sound clipping" suggest a different problem?
The preamp may be damaged. Please only use the recommended and included power supply.

I have a Marantz TT 42 turntable that I'm trying ...
I have a Marantz TT 42 turntable that I'm trying to connect to a Mac. This Art DJ PRE II isn't getting it done. No matter what I've tried with changing settings and levels I still have hum and distortion. I've relocated the TT and the MAC to other parts of the house just to see if it might be the power grounding of the house still no help. I had a Rolls VP 29 connecting them fine but it didn't last long at all until the power connection failed. This ART DJ seems to have an issue similar to the Rolls. It also has to have the power connection just right or it crackles and hums terribly. Anyone having the same issue or having any luck connecting a Marantz TT42? With the Rolls I even used it to connect a vintage JVC QL-F61 to several surround receivers and my MAC.
I agree with James, the signal output is likely too strong for your Mac input. You may find connecting the ART DJ to your Mac via a Bluetooth transmitter is a good solution. I use this type of setup for my turntable through the ART DJ, so I can have the unit across the room and not wired to my system. I would like to purchase this for use in Singapore but I’m concerned about the Power Supply Unit. We are on 230v 50hz Type G. Will the supplied PSU work?
I checked the wall adapter and it was listed for only 120 volts input. The adapter is only a transformer as the output is 9 volts ac.

Regarding imput Impedance of 47k ohms / 100pF: What does the 100 pF mean, and is a lower pF number better or worse than a higher pF number such as 220 pF at 47 ohms?
The Art DeeJay Pre allows the selection of 2 preset additive capacitances, 100 and 220 pF at 47 ohms. The ability to quickly select the lower or higher capacitance allows for better matching with the moving magnet phono cartridge used in the playback system. The system in this case consists of the cartridge resistance, inductance; capacitance of the wires in the tonearm; the capacitance of the RCA cables from turntable to the phono preamp added with the ArtDeeJay pushbutton selection. There is an excellent explanation on the website VinylEngine search Cartridge Loading Explained which cover the inter-relationships of capacitance, induction and resistance above and their effects on cartridge sound output. The pushbutton selectable additive capacitance of the ArtDeeJay phono preamp makes achieving accurate sound very convenient. Good luck.
