The Hoya 77mm Neutral Density (ND) 0.6 Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated Glass Filter has several uses, and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear grey, and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Note: Pro 1 Digital filters are ultra thin, but have a front thread.

Digital Multi-Coated
Digital multi-coated filters greatly reduce the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections
Black Almite Frame
Filters feature a black matte aluminum, satin-finish almite frame, which reduces reflections
Black Rimmed Glass
These filters are equipped with black-rimmed glass to reduce the chance of light reflecting off the edge
Low Profile Frame
Ultra-thin filter frames, which help to avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses, are also designed to hold a lens cap
Knurling Edge Frame
These filters are equipped with a straight knurling edge for non-slip, easy attachment and removal
UV Protected Case
Filter cases are UV protected, which further lengthens the life of filters
Neutral Density Filters have four main uses:
  • To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high-speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
  •  To decrease depth-of-field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps to separate subjects from their background
  • To decrease the effective ISO of high-speed film (above ISO 400), and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
  • To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes, which could cause overexposure
Neutral Density Factors
  • 2x = ND 0.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
  • 4x = ND 0.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
  • 8x = ND 0.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)

77mm Neutral Density (ND) 0.6 Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated Glass Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must-have Filter Landscape photography in the intense sun of the desert southwest is challenging to say the least. Getting the best results usually means being on location at the crack of dawn or being lucky enough to catch one of the 30 or so overcast days each year. Even late afternoon can be tricky with high contrast and long shadows. For this slow learner, a fix is finally at hand. The 0.6 ND filter expands the daylight window for photos by several hours even on the brightest of days. With proper metering, washouts are now a relect of the past (even eliminating the need for post processing). Color reproduction seems more natural too. Add this ND filter and a circular polarizer to the bag and you're good to go. Wish I had picked it up years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased with this Filter Great for sunrise and sunset shots. Really helps bring out colors for bright or snowy scenes. Also great for waterfalls. I have not experienced any lens flare or vignetting with this filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Color Cast at All It's actually really hard to find an ND filter with Zero color cast or very close to zero color cast. I tested Hoya against the built in ND filter wheel on my Sony FS700 and there was no color cast. Many of the other brands have a slight to moderate green tint which drove me crazy. So happy for these Pro-1 NDs. Really great product and moderately priced.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good filter, terrible case I really like this filter. However, it comes in a really terrible, awkward case. It seems shallow to ding a product on its case, but I still feel compelled to do so. By comparison, my Nikon and B+W filters come in very nice cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets expectations I use this filter for landscapes that inlcude beach/ocean scenes and it performs exactly as expected. It seems to be well made and mounts smoothly on my wide angle Nikkor lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm! This filter is great for slowing the flow of moving water at beaches, waterfalls, streams, etc. It does exactly what it is designed to do and has Hoya's great quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Craftsmanship It does exactly what it's supposed to do. It is very well machined and the threads don't bind on the lens or on the filter side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT! I do alot of time-lapse and this filter slow my shutter down just enough to give me the right look.
