On the very tip of the pole where you attach your audio gear, the gold thing for attaching the mic unit keeps swiveling around and I can't lock it. What am I doing wrong?
Mary again, now with the solution. I took this to local video store (Glazers in Seattle) and they solved this. Gold tip not defective. Solution was the second locking mechanism was not tight enough. The gold tip no longer spins.

It will work with the RODE NTG 4+ and hundreds of other microphones as well.

Can this be attached to a light stand or any other kind of stand?
When fully extended the weight will be too much for lighter stands, mic, light or otherwise. However, a industry standard to large size softbox setup will hold it assuming you have a boom pole holder and grip head.

I just bought an NTG-3 and I already own this pole. Shouldn't I be able to use it with the SM4 mount (with the 3/8 insert) and the Rode NTG-3? Seems odd that only the NTG-2 and NTG1 are mentioned.
The Rode NTG-3 is compatible the SM4 mount as well, and will attach to this pole using the thread adapter.

Will this work with MKE600? I am a bit skeptical despite the 3/8 cause description is so specific to Rode NT series.
The Rode Boompole features a standard 3/8 male threading compatible with any mount that features a 3/8 threading. This pole is in no way specific to Rode mics.
