Avenger MP Coupler Reviews

Not as secure as I hoped

I got these thinking I'd save a few bucks and get the same performance as a c-clamp with a junior pin on it, but that was perhaps naive since this just does not hold as well for anything with lateral pull. For example, when hanging a light off of pipe - straight down - this clamp is fine - but if I tried to arm over a 4' floppy off a gobo arm and head then it wants to spin on the pipe, even after using a crescent wrench to get good tightness on the wingnut. So bottom line it it's fine for straight downward use or maybe light lateral use, but if you need to arm horizontally then maybe get the c-clamp alternative of this.

This coupler is as good as it gets. It well built, strong and easy to use. I have about 20 I'm using with zero issues.

question

it looks like it can clamp smaller pipe than specified 1.65 or 42mm. Would this work to hold 30 lbs with a pipe between 1.3 and 1.6 ?
Asked by: Nils
Yes, it can hold 30 lbs with smaller pipe.Suggestion : I put extra cushion to create friction effect , otherwise the both surfaces of the clamp and the pipe are too smooth and cannot be hold tightly.
