question

This is most likely a novice question, but how to this rectangle filter rotate? Does it need to be fitted inside a filter holder that rotates?
Asked by: Clarke
Yes you are correct. Square or rectangular filters are attached to lenses via filter holders, most of which rotate the filter independently of the lens.

question

What's the difference between the Linear and Circular versions of 4 x 5.65 please? Do they both require a matte box with a rotating filter tray?
Asked by: patrick
Here Linear and Circular refer to the type of Polarizing film in the filter. The confusing Circular term actually has nothing to do with the shape of the filter. It can be round or rectangular, it does not matter. A Linear Polarizer is be used in cameras without auto focus or auto exposure. A Circular Polarizer is to be use in today's digital cameras with their auto focus and auto exposure. You will need a filter holder/matte box with a rotating 4 x 5.56 to use this size Polarizer. However, we recommend that instead of a rectangular Polarizer filter, using a round one for it is much more practical, i.e., easier to use.
