The massive true vertical column, along with a perfectly aligned projection assembly, film stage and lens stage, results in an image in which the center and all four corners are in simultaneous sharp focus and in which the center of the projected image does not move, irrespective of the image magnification. The center remains stationary, even while increasing/decreasing the size of the projected image, so it is never necessary to move the easel in order to recenter the image from wallet size through larger than 24 x36" on the baseboard.

In terms of illumination, the 45V-XL accommodates the 45M Condenser Lightsource (8121), the Dichro 45S Colorhead (8278), and the 810 Coldlight Conversion Kit (8350). It can even be purchased with pre-installed or retrofitted with baseboard controlled, motorized Power Elevation and Power Focus modules.

The high performance 45M Condenser Lightsource for the 45V utilizes Beseler's patented "Cone-of Light" variable condenser system to adjust the position of the over-sized 6-1/2" optical glass condensers to maximize the illumination for every format 35mm through 4 x 5", yielding exceptionally short exposure times, a cooler film stage and less negative buckling than with conventional condenser heads.
