With this CM-140, there is no longer any need to wing it on how loud something is. This piece of equipment moves those observations from the subjective to the objective. I've been measuring everything with this tool from personal to professional settings which gives me a better grasp on my own experiences with sound levels. Now I can say to a guitar or bass player, you are playing about 3dB too loud and then work with them to set more reasonable levels. I can setup speakers in a room and get the volume set just right. I used it to tune cardioid positioned subs. It has quickly become my most relied on tool and my only regret is not buying an SPL meter sooner...well, maybe I think I should have sprung for the CM-170 so I could have logging, but maybe I can use the output on the CM-140 and record that on a spare channel. There is a 1/4" thread on the bottom of this that allows it to be mounted on a stand quite easily.

Fantastic.

What is the difference between this and the CM-130 that only costs $59.99? The specs are the same except that this one has lower bass response. What specifically is different in this model warrant double the price?
Asked by: JP
The CM-140 meets IEC 651 Type II & ANSI S1.4 Type II standards while the CM-130 model does not.
