Pro Co Sound CDPM Reviews

A good tool for turning headset mic on and off hands free

Pros: I like that that switch is battery operated and the 9v adapter comes with it too. Ruggedly built. I use it with a headset mic and the on off light lets me know when the mic is on. Cons: The foot switch is stiff and loud when you step on it. It seemed expensive for the simplicity of the switch itself. paid a premium for the on off light.

Finally A Mute Switch That is Silent

I bought several other foot switches for muting from various places and all made a pop or popping noise when pressed. This was obviously unacceptable when our recordings would have a click any time the mute was pressed. These switches aren't cheap and that's exactly why I bought 3 of them. There's very solidly built and they work flawlessly with no sound in the line when pressing the mute button. I'm guessing the fact that the previous switches I bought were non-powered had something to do with the noise. These foot switches are powered and silent. Exactly what we needed.

question

How effective is this on a vocal condenser mic? I want to put this mute switch in line between the mic and an affects processor which will supply phantom power.

It works quite well. I use a Shure SM35 headset mic when playing my electric upright and use this to kill my mic when I'm not singing. It works great with external phantom power. It does suck batteries, though, if you have it off a good bit. I go through a 9v Duracell Quantum battery every 1.5 gigs. However, when the power dies, it defaults to the mic being on, so you don't lose your mic in mid-set if the battery dies. If you're using a powered pedalboard or can run from the wall wart, you'll be fine. Switching is quiet, so you don't even notice when you turn the mic on and off. Overall, it's a great pedal and I use it every week.
