Firstly, it's not brass, only the clip is brass and rest is steel. Secondly, the flexible arm doesn't stay in desired position. When adjusted, it goes right back to the slightly bent position. Lastly, they will not accept a return on this item

How long is the gooseneck? How long is the electric cord and is there a plug on the cord?
The gooseneck is approximately 8 long. The 6' cord, is terminated with a standard 110V US plug.

Can this light be turned to shine upwards rather ...
Can this light be turned to shine upwards rather than just down (towards the clamp)? I am thinking of mounting it on display shelves and it would be useful if I could direct the light accordingly. I am not sure how flexible the gooseneck is, or if the head or shade swivel or rotate.
The gooseneck is pretty flexible and should work for your needs.
