The Sony MSWA2000/1 is a studio editing recorder using Sony's MPEG IMX format and SDTI-CP (Serial Digital Transport Interface- Content Packages). Standard definition MPEG IMX is a 4:2:2 format with the distinction of being based on the MPEG-2 compression scheme, resulting in higher quality images at lower data rates. A great feature of the MSWA2000/1 is its legacy playback ability, making sure archived Betacam footage can be used. Whether it is digital or analog based, any Betacam library becomes readily available with this versatile VTR.
Excellent Picture Quality using MPEG IMX
The MPEG IMX's high-quality digital video utilizes 4:2:2 sampling with a data rate up to 50Mbps. Because the format is based upon MPEG compression standards, the camera integrates perfectly with other MPEG devices. For DTV satellite broadcast use, MPEG IMX has the added convenience of being a broadcast-ready.
MPEG-Data Compression and Component Video
The MSWA2000/1 employs 8-bit 4:2:2 component video sampling and MPEG-2 4:2:2P data compression at 50 mega-bits/second. The MPEG data stream can be output via the SDTI-CP output. This allows for rapid data transfers to non-linear platforms and network servers.
Tape Libraries Remain Viable
The unit is fully capable of playing back almost the entire family of Sony professional 1/2" tape formats. Extensive back catalogs of stock footage, news content, and even contemporary standard definition programming can be efficiently used with one piece of equipment.
An Eye to the DTV Future
The deck can be set up for up-conversion from standard definition to HDTV formats. With the optional up-conversion card the deck can output 720p, 1080i formats.
Digital Video Requires Digital Audio
The MSWA2000/1 can input up to 8 16-bit digital audio channels- all independently editable. Switching to 24-bit audio, the deck can handle 4 channels of audio. Control knows for all eight audio channels are located on the machine's front panel.
