I am using this to feed audio out of my headphone jacks of the video camera, to both my headphone AND to my voice-controlled teleprompter app on an iPad. Works fine.

Can this adapter be used to take two microphones going into one input, like the 3.5mm input on a Sony A7 III?
Technically yes, this would work to combine two microphones into one input. There could be some problems with doing this though. having 2 microphones running into one input depending on the microphones, you will lose the ability to control the individual input levels for these microphones. Having an external mixer that attaches to your camera may be more beneficial.
