This allows you to attach specific Pentax binoculars(as well as other brands) which have a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod socket on the bottom of them to any tripod with a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod screw. This includes the UCF & Papilio series of binoculars, and likely others. Simply glance at the underside of your binocular for a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod screw.

Mine broke after first use, but I probably had over-tightened it. The break was fairly clean and occurred at the seam you can see near the top of the adapter. I was able to grind the surfaces smooth and put it back together with super glue. Now I add a thin washer between the adapter and the binocular body to absorb some of the strain. Also I remind myself to go a little easier on the tightening. On reflection, maybe it's no bad thing that the seam is a relatively weak spot; letting it break there might prevent damage to the threads on the binocular when somebody with big clumsy man-hands is on the job.
